Mayor Rick Goldring hosted a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell and a group of community stakeholders on Feb. 24, 2017 to discuss seniors’ housing in Burlington. The day concluded with Mayor Goldring announcing the creation of the Mayor’s Task Force on Seniors’ Housing.

Mayor Rick Goldring welcomed the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, to the Art Gallery of Burlington (AGB) on Feb. 24 for a roundtable discussion on seniors’ housing needs in Burlington.

Mayor Goldring hosted the roundtable with the Lieutenant Governor at Her Honour’s request to learn more about issues, ideas and initiatives of importance to the people of Burlington.

Over the next 20 years, the percentage of seniors within Burlington is expected to grow to about one in every four residents and the number of seniors over the age of 80 is expected to more than double.

Following the roundtable discussion, Mayor Goldring announced a one-year task force to address the issue of seniors’ housing in Burlington. Continue reading
